We bevel and burnish to remove rough edges and then waterproof with a mixture of beeswax and natural oils.
Bevelling and burnishing makes an item look professional as well as being practical in removing any sharp edges.
Most finished items have a waterproofing mixture of beeswax and natural oils rubbed into the leather - this provides an element of protection and helps to keep the leather in tip top condition. This treatment should be repeated periodically to prolong the life of the product. Most saddlers or equestrian shops sell suitable leather conditioners for this purpose.
